
AIMS: The aims of the Group are:
- To increase members’ and the general public’s knowledge and understanding of historical events in Malhamdale and elsewhere
- To undertake research and keep an archive relating to people, places and events in Malhamdale and adjoining townships.
- To organise and run a non profit-making group
THE OFFICERS: The officers shall be elected at the AGM and shall be:
- Chairperson
- Chairperson Elect
- Treasurer and Membership Secretary
- Secretary
- Programme Secretary
The Chairperson Elect may also hold one of the other offices.
The Committee shall be comprised of all Officers plus 3 ordinary Committee members.
All Officers and Committee members shall be elected for a period of two years but may be proposed for re-election to the same or another position at the end of that time.
The Committee may co-opt other members when necessary, for example to fulfil specific roles such as archivist and webmaster.
The Committee shall meet as required and not less than three times each year.
A quorum shall comprise five or more Committee members.

MEMBERSHIP
Membership of the group is by annual subscription. This gives members free entry into monthly talks. (Currently £20 per year).
Annual membership fees should normally be paid at the start of the programme year.
Visitors are welcome to attend meetings, entrance fee payable at the door. (Currently £4 per meeting, includes tea/coffee and biscuits afterwards).
The group will comply with current Data Protection legislation with regards to the collection and use of members’ details.
MEETINGS
Meetings will normally take place on the third Thursday of each month throughout the year. The February meeting will be the Annual General Meeting. A quorum of 20% of the membership will be required to pass resolutions at this meeting.
Meetings with commence at 7.30pm unless otherwise stated.
RESEARCH AND RECORDING
The Committee shall agree local research projects to be undertaken by the group. Examples of previous projects can be found on this website.
The Committee shall appoint Diarists to record all relevant happenings in the townships of Malhamdale. Diaries will normally be presented at the January meeting.
ARCHIVE
The Group will maintain an archive in both physical and digital form.
An archivist will be appointed to manage the routine management of the archive.
The archive will consist of documents, images, maps, letters, books etc relating to Malhamdale and adjoining townships. The group will not normally collect or keep objects.
The archive will be accessible to members and the public at large for research purposes by application to the archivist.
